  • The Challenge

Our client needed to undertake noise and vibration monitoring within the Singapore Mass Transit tunnel system to capture the impact of the installation of low stiffness fasteners into the circle line track system to replace the existing double fastclip system.

  • Our Approach

Our team of noise, acoustics, and vibration experts:

    • Installed a comprehensive in-tunnel measurement system.
    • Captured simultaneous noise and vibration levels (including rail deflection values) on the track slab, rail, and tunnel wall at several locations within the tunnels.
    • Conducted additional attended and unattended monitoring around surface residential properties and at a control location near the circle line’s wheel impact load detection system.
  • The Outcome

Monitoring was completed both in advance of and after the completion of the replacement of the existing rail fastening system with the low stiffness fastening system, with rail inspection notes and photos taken during each visit to enable a comparative rail condition review.
