Crossrail has published a Learning Legacy paper, ‘Managing construction Noise and Vibration in an Urban Environment’. As part of Crossrail’s framework for assessing its Tier 1 contractors a bespoke matrix for defining noise management was developed that reflected industry best practice and beyond. Contractors were assessed at regular six month intervals, appraised around three main categories:
- leadership, staffing, interfaces and culture;
- engagement with community relations and stakeholders; and
- Section 61 Consent Application Compliance, BPM and monitoring techniques.
Of the six contractors assessed as providing ‘world class’ performance, Southdowns is the retained Noise and Vibration Specialist organisation for three of these:
- C510 Liverpool Street and Whitechapel Station Tunnel Platforms;
- C405 Paddington Station Main Works; and
- C610 Systemwide Track and Fit-out.
