Rick presented a paper on Southdowns’ work on Crossrail combined rail/wheel roughness at the 12th International Workshop on Railway Noise in Terrigal, Australia this week. The workshop is considered to be the most important convention for experts in the field of railway acoustics and is attended by over 130 delegates from all over the world. Over four days the workshop themes covered: policy, regulation and perception; curving noise; wheel / rail noise; structure-borne noise, ground-borne vibration and resilient track forms; high speed rail and aerodynamic noise; interior noise; rail roughness, corrugation and grinding; and predictions, measurements and monitoring. The workshop was organised by the Australian Acoustical Society.
