We’ve added a Corrugation Analysis Trolley (or CAT) to our monitoring equipment fleet enabling us to offer in-house rail corrugation and roughness measurement and data processing to our rail sector clients. Rail roughness is a key parameter in the generation of noise and vibration from rail systems and quantifying it enables railway operators and maintainers to assess, control and manage the resulting effects through management interventions. Our trained staff will be using the CAT shortly to conduct surveys on the newly installed track systems within the new Crossrail tunnels under London, as part of an assurance exercise for the project. For more information on our rail roughness measurement services and other railway noise and vibration services, please contact Rick Methold on 01273 488186 or rhm@southdowns.eu.com.
