The railway industry is a key market sector for Southdowns and the company has considerable experience of working on the construction and operation of major railway projects throughout the UK and overseas. Staff safety is a primary consideration in all our work and a Personal Track Safety (PTS) Certificate is an essential pre-requesite where noise or vibration survey work has to be conducted within the boundary of any Network Rail tracks.
PTS certification is based on an assessment of the individual’s ability to work safely in the vicinity of an operational railway, taking into account their ability to respond and react to any potential hazards. Southdowns is pleased therefore to announce that one of its senior consultants Alex Mabey was recently sponsored by a railway contractor to undertake PTS training and that the training programme was successfully completed, thus permitting him to go trackside where required to install noise and vibration monitoring equipment and to undertake other related work.
