This week Rick presented at the Institute of Acoustics event The Noise Management & Assessment of Crossrail – Outcomes and Lessons Learned.
Rick and Andrew Bird (Crossrail) jointly presented on Managing Groundborne Noise and Vibration During Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) Works. The presentation discussed the SCL methods employed at Crossrail Contract C510 during the construction of the new platform tunnels at Whitechapel and Liverpool Street Stations, the unforeseen groundborne noise effects that arose on site and eventual solutions and methods employed to control and manage the impact to the nearby building occupants.
During the event Rick was also invited to sit on a discussion panel – Lessons learned implementing Crossrail’s noise mitigation scheme (D9).
The panel consisted of five experts who described the pros and cons of the Crossrail’s construction noise and vibration mitigation scheme. With experience of working for a number of Tier 1 contractors on Crossrail, Rick was able to give insight into the use and application of the scheme from both the contractors and noise consultants viewpoint.
