James joined Southdowns in 2020 as an Acoustic Technician. Now working as an Assistant Acoustic Consultant, James provides support to the consultancy team on noise and vibration projects. Responsibilities include unattended monitoring report drafting/checking, noise modelling (NoiseMap, SoundPlan), drafting BS 4142 and BS 8233 Assessment, SOI calculations, undertaking attended noise and vibration surveys, and assisting with drafting Section 61 (Control of Pollution Act 1974) documents.
Currently studying for an MSc in Environmental and Architectural Acoustics at London South Bank University, James is a Student Member of the Institute of Acoustics.
James also holds a BSc Biomedical Science (Hons), which provided experience in generating data with subsequent processing, analysis, and presentation. He also holds a First-Class BA (Hons) in Music Production, which included focus on the properties of sound, and experience in analysis of room acoustics followed by acoustic treatment.
