Matthew Tomes is an Associate Consultant with Southdowns, having joined the company in 2004 as a graduate with an upper second class honours degree in Audio Technology from the Southampton Institute (now Solent University). He subsequently studied applied acoustics part-time at North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) and was awarded an MSc in 2009 on completion of his thesis on outdoor noise propagation.
Since joining Southdowns, Matthew has worked on a wide range of projects including various environmental noise and vibration impact assessments for outdoor sports and recreation facilities, highway schemes, railway projects, industrial and residential developments.
Matthew has broad experience in the application of modelling software and the components required in the detailed construction, calculation and presentation of desktop study analysis. In particular, Matthew has been responsible for project managing Southdowns advice to London Overground and Transport for London on work related to the East London Line.
