Proposals for housing-led mixed development on the site of former industrial premises in Dunstable town centre were rejected by the local planning authority on the grounds of its preferred use for industrial purposes and employment.
An environmental noise assessment of the Development Brief prepared by the District Council for its preferred use of the site was subsequently commissioned by the site owner and indicated that the site was not ideally located for general industrial, storage and industrial use. Written evidence was prepared and submitted to the public inquiry following appeal of the local planning authority’s decision and the public inspector subsequently reported in favor of the appellants case for residential development of the site.
