Southdowns was commissioned by Herstmonceux Castle Enterprises to support a planning application to increase the permitted number of annual outdoor events at the 300 acre estate of Herstmonceux Castle, a 15th Century moated Tudor Castle in the Wealden District of East Sussex.
Southdowns undertook a baseline noise survey comprising of two, off-site continuous monitoring locations and a scheme of attended noise monitoring to establish baseline noise levels at sensitive residential locations in the immediate vicinity of Herstmonceux Castle. Attended monitoring was also undertaken during an outdoor event within the grounds of Hertsmonceux Castle to supplement the baseline monitoring, and to provide observations of sound propagation across the site during an event.
