Southdowns was commissioned by Jacobs to provide specialist support and capacity to its in-house acoustics team during the preparation of the Development Consent Order for the proposed power station in Anglesey, North Wales.
Southdowns was given direct responsibility for the preparation of the ES chapters for construction and operation noise and vibration at all the proposed off-site facilities associated with this £16bn Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. This 12-month involvement included the prediction, assessment, mitigation and preparation of the noise and vibration related ES chapters to support the Development Consent Order. Embedded into the Jacobs delivery team to ensure maximal efficiencies, areas of responsibility included the chapters included: the new HGV Logistics centre; the extensive on-line and off-line highways improvements required to support the construction traffic movements; the new Park and Ride facility, the new maintenance and emergency services facilities; and inputs to the cumulative effects assessments and chapters. Work also included the calculation of construction noise for the Habitats Regulations Assessment work on native nesting bird species.
